Masters of Engineering in Electric Power Engineering

A Career Advancement For Electric Power Engineers — Learn While You Work

Dear Prospective Graduate Student,

Welcome to the Advanced Training Program (ATP), a program which offers professionals in the power industry the opportunity to participate in part-time on-line graduate studies in electric power engineering. This program is an initiative of the Power and Energy Systems Group at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo and receives support from Hydro One Networks Inc., a major power-transmission utility in North America.

The distinctive features of the ATP are:

  • the candidate can choose one of three academic tracks, including the degree of Masters of Engineering (MEng) in Electric Power Engineering, and
  • the courses are provided on-line through internet using multi-media communication technologies.

ATP provides advanced state-of-the-art training, skill development and education to power engineering personnel employed at various power companies so as to help develop specialized manpower base for employment in the power and energy business. Offered courses are relevant to the power industry to help them re-train their personnel to update on the advancements in the field. The courses are also available to electrical engineering graduates and professionals working in other areas and wishing to make a career in the power and energy sector.

All courses are offered in a multi-media e-learning environment that will encourage a learn-while-you-work philosophy through the use of internet and other associated modern-day communication technologies.

ATP Statistics and Outlook
