New Faces: Rodolfo Pellizzoni

Rodolfo Pellizzoni joined the ECE Department in September 2010 as an Assistant Professor. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in August 2010. His Ph.D. thesis introduced new hardware/software architectures and analysis methodologies to improve both reliability and timing predictability in safety-critical embedded systems. For this novel contribution, Rodolfo received the W.J. Poppelbaum Memorial Award from UIUC for outstanding creativity in computer architecture design. Prior to his Ph.D. at UIUC, he received a Laurea degree in Computer Engineering (MS equivalent) from the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and the University of Pisa in Italy.

Rodolfo's research interests span all aspects of cyber-physical and embedded system design, with a particular focus on embedded computer architectures and real-time operating systems. Rodolfo is excited to join the growing and dynamic faculty at the University of Waterloo, and he looks forward to strengthening the ECE Department's research and teaching programs in the area of embedded systems.
