New Faces: Mahesh Tripunitara

Mahesh has a Ph.D. in computer science from Purdue University, and a B.Sc.(Hons.) from Dalhousie University. Before coming to Waterloo, he was principal research staff at Motorola Labs. He researches various aspects of information security. Most of his work has been in access control - the theory and practice of ensuring that only authorized principals have access to information. He has current projects also in secure multicast, payment technologies and mitigation of real-time spam. Prior to returning to Purdue to complete his Ph.D., he worked for about 6 years in the software industry.

He came to Waterloo to be part of the community of bright students and strong faculty, and to benefit from the nurturing academic atmosphere. He has a passion for running that he discovered only 3 years ago, and plans to run his first marathon in 2009.
