There are two classes of individuals whose interests are related to that of the Association:
- Engineering interns, and
- Engineering students.
These are defined in Ontario Regulation 941 (Sections 32.1 and 32.2, respectively) and are not part of the Professional Engineers Act.
Engineering Interns
Engineering interns are individuals who have applied for a licence, are enrolled in the Engineering Intern Program, and
meet or is in the process of meeting the academic requirements for a licence. They get a number of privileges including:
- membership with voting rights of the local Chapter with the possibility of serving as a Chapter executive;
- attending annual meetings of Members and meetings of the Council without voting rights;
- appointments to committees unless barred by the Act, Ontario Regulation 941 or the by-laws; and
- receiving
- notice of the Annual Meeting,
- notice of the election results,
- issues of Engineering Dimensions, and
- any other notice, document or information intended for engineering interns.
Engineering interns must pay a $75 annual fee most of which covers the issues of Engineering Dimensions.
Engineering Students
Engineering students are individuals who have applied for a licence, are enrolled in the Student Membership Program
and is currently enrolled in an accredited Canadian engineering program. They get a number of privileges including:
- attending annual meetings of Members and meetings of the Council without voting rights;
- participation in Chapter events; and
- receiving
- notice of the Annual Meeting,
- notice of the election results,
- electronic issues of Engineering Dimensions, and
- any other notice, document or information intended for engineering students.
