Updated for 2010 Changes to the Professional Engineers Act
These web pages have been updated to include both
enacted and pending changes due to the Open for Business Act, 2010. Note
that some changes will not be in force until proclaimed by the Lieutenant
Governor; for example, the putting into force the end of the industrial
exemption has been delayed numerous times.

A summary of the relevant statutes and regulations: Limited_Licence.pdf.
The requirements for a limited engineering licence less strict than those for a licence; however, limited engineering licencees are not members of
PEO and their practice is limited strictly to those services specified on the licence. The holder of a limited licience may use the title
"Limited Enigneering Licensee" and may use the abbreviation "LEL" after their name.
A limited licence restricts the practices of professional engineering which the holder may engage in and the
details are covered in Ontario Regulation 941 in Sections 45 and 46:
- Section 45 states the limited licence must specify the limitations and that the licence must be
returned when the holder ceases to provide those services; and
- Section 46 states the requirement including
- Education,
- Experience,
- Payment,
- Writing the PPE,
- Good character, and
- The right to regain the licence upon resumption of services.
