Zarnett: How Apple's launchd Compares to a Standard System V init

You can view or download the 150 MB mpeg file here.

Organization

Mr. Zarnett is covering a topic which is at least a year in advance of a second-year computer-engineering program, yet at all times, he gives the audience sufficient background. The organization is simple and clear, and the audience can easily follow the talk.

Slides

His slides use an appropriate font and are not crowded. They simply summarize what he is saying during the talk. While this is not a visual topic, per se, he does make use of a graphic where appropriate.

Presentation

Mr. Zarnett speaks clearly and with authority. His body movements are conservative but not stiff. He uses his hands to add emphasis to his talks without attracting attention to his movements. He keeps his focus on the audience and only occasionally glances at the screen.

Nice tie.

Questions

He answers questions clearly and demonstrates clearly that he has a broad knowledge of the topic beyond what was covered during his talk.
